Target group
Social work practitioners, care co-ordinators, nurses, clinicians, finance staff, police, senior practitioners, health & social care provider managers, Croydon College staff and Dignity Champions. All participants should have an understanding of basic safeguarding principles & be familiar with Croydon’s Safeguarding Adults policy & procedure

Overview of the course
This one day course aims to equip professionals with the necessary skills to investigate the financial abuse of adults with care & support needs, in line with local Safeguarding Procedures. It covers the prevalence of financial abuse & powers/duties of statutory bodies, but focuses mainly on how to structure an investigation & the legal remedies available to protect & safeguard the assets of adults

Bu the end of the course paticipants will:
- How to risk assess & risk manage financial abuse cases
- How to set an investigative strategy
- How to gather & process evidence
- How to prevent or reduce financial abuse where the adult is purchasing his/her own care
- The available legal remedies & how to use them
- The powers & duties of statutory bodies & courts
